This Privacy Policy describes the data practices of PDF Toolkit — 100% Local, a Chrome browser extension published by Kuantero SRL (“Kuantero,” “we,” “us”). It applies specifically to this extension, available on the Chrome Web Store and used within the Chrome browser. It does not cover kuantero.com or any other Kuantero product.
Summary
- PDF Toolkit merges, compresses, and splits PDF files entirely inside your browser tab.
- Your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or sent to Kuantero or to any third party. All processing happens locally on your device using open-source libraries bundled with the extension.
- The only piece of information the extension stores is your chosen display language, saved locally on your own device. It is never transmitted anywhere.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies of any kind.
- We do not collect, sell, or share personal data, because we do not collect any.
What the extension does
PDF Toolkit lets you, from a single browser tab:
- Merge multiple PDF files into one document
- Compress a PDF to reduce its file size
- Split a PDF by extracting or removing specific pages
(A PDF-to-Word and Word-to-PDF conversion feature exists in the interface but is currently disabled while we improve it; when active, it works under the same local-only principle described below.)
All of the above is performed using JavaScript libraries (such as pdf-lib and pdf.js) that run inside the extension’s own page, within your browser. No file you open, generate, or download through PDF Toolkit is sent over the network at any point.
Information we do NOT collect
We do not collect, store, or have access to:
- The content of any PDF, Word, or other document you process
- Your name, email address, or any other personal identifier
- Your IP address, browsing history, or location
- Any account, login, or profile information (the extension has no accounts)
- Analytics or usage statistics of any kind
Information we DO store
The extension supports a user-selectable display language (defaulting to English). Your chosen language code (for example, “en” or “ro”) is saved using the Chrome storage API (chrome.storage.local), which keeps this single value on your own device only. This value:
- Is never transmitted to Kuantero, to any server, or to any third party
- Contains no personal information
- Can be cleared at any time by removing the extension, or by clearing browser data for the extension
Files you load into the extension (for merging, compressing, or splitting) exist only in your browser’s memory for the duration of your session. They are cleared when you use the extension’s “Reset” button, automatically after 15 minutes, or when you close the tab — and are never written to any server or persisted by Kuantero in any form.
Permissions
The extension requests the storage permission solely to remember your selected display language, as described above. It does not request access to your browsing activity, other websites, downloads, or any host permissions beyond what is needed to run its own interface page.
Third parties
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-processing services in connection with this extension. No data from this extension is shared with, sold to, or transferred to any third party, because none is collected in the first place.
Children’s privacy
PDF Toolkit is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, since it collects no personal data at all.
International users
Because no personal data is collected, transmitted, or stored outside your own device, there is no cross-border data transfer associated with using this extension.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the extension’s functionality changes (for example, if a future version introduces optional server-based features). Any such change will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
